Is your mind not quite as sharp as it used to be?
You’re not imagining it — and you’re not alone. At some point, often after 40, 50, or 60, many people notice that something has quietly shifted. The word that won’t come. The conversation you can’t quite recall. The brain fog that makes a simple decision feel harder than it should.
At first it’s easy to brush off as “just getting older.” But over time, the changes become harder to ignore. Perhaps you’ve noticed:
- Forgetting recent events or conversations that you should easily remember
- Trouble focusing, concentrating, or making decisions
- Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed
- Feeling more withdrawn, anxious, or low in mood
- Changes in behaviour or personality that feel out of character
- Difficulty managing daily tasks that used to feel effortless
If any of this sounds familiar, you’re in exactly the right place.
ABOUT ELLEN
Who can help — and how?
I’m Ellen Smith, a Naturopath with nearly 30 years of clinical experience and advanced ReCODE 2.0 certification — trained directly under Dr. Dale Bredesen, the world’s leading researcher in the prevention and reversal of cognitive decline.
My work is focused on one thing: uncovering the real, underlying reasons why your brain isn’t functioning the way it should — and giving you a clear, evidence-based, personalised plan to do something about it.
Cognitive decline is not an inevitable part of ageing. It develops over years, driven by a combination of modifiable factors — inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, nutritional deficiencies, chronic stress, sleep disruption, and environmental exposures. When those factors are identified and addressed, the brain has a remarkable capacity to recover.
That’s what I help people do.

THE APPROACH
Why natural and functional medicine?
Conventional medicine is extraordinary in many ways — but when it comes to cognitive decline, it has historically offered very little beyond diagnosis and management. The naturopathic and functional medicine approach is different. Rather than waiting for a diagnosis and then managing symptoms, it asks: why is this happening, and what can be done about the cause?
The research is clear that cognitive decline is driven by multiple modifiable factors. Addressing those factors — through targeted nutrition, lifestyle strategies, functional testing, and evidence-based natural interventions — gives the brain the conditions it needs to function better and, in many cases, to recover.
This is not alternative medicine. It is personalised, evidence-informed, root-cause care. And for many people, it changes everything.
You’re not alone — and it’s never too early, or too late, to start caring for your brain.
